    Tutorial

    Are you ready for scanning?

    1. Set up
    2. Scan
    3. Upload
    The Kinect sensor
Place your Kinect roughly at the level of your chest and make sure that no objects are obstructing the sensor. You may want to use a tripod to hold the Kinect.
    The scanning space
The scanning area should be an empty area of roughly 2x2 sq.m., where you can easily make 45 degree turns. Make sure to remove unwanted objects in that area such as chairs, floor lamps, or cats.
    Good lighting
Check how well the room will be lit during scanning. The subject should be lit as uniformly as possible. Avoid backlights to the sensor and strong specular reflections or shadows on the subject.
Install the Shapify.me software on your computer. Connect the Kinect sensor to your computer and plug the power cable into a socket. Run the application. Press "Capture" to start scanning.
Stand about 1m away from the Kinect and strike a pose you can repeat each time you turn around. Follow the voice instructions. For each turn, remember to keep the same facial expression and pose.
Once the scanning is done, your captured data will take a few minutes to process. Then voila, your 3D scan is ready! Check your digital model by spinning it around.
